Sultan Qaboos University professor gets international Lifetime Achievement Award

Muscat: Prof. Salma Mohammed Al Kindy, Dean of the College of Science, and Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Sultan Qaboos University, has received a “Lifetime achievement award in Chemistry” by the Venus International Foundation (VIF) based in Chennai, India.
Prof. Salma Mohammed Al Kindy has been honoured in recognition of her contribution, research excellence and accomplishments in the field of chemistry.
The award will be handed over to Prof. Al Kindy at the third Annual Research Meet of the VIF to be held on November 11 in Chennai, India.
Salma Al Kindy completed B.Sc (Honours) in chemistry from the Faculty of Science, American University of Cairo, Egypt in 1982.
Prof. Al Kindy received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Loughborough University, Loughborough, England, in 1987.
International awards
In 1989, Dr. Salma joined Sultan Qaboos University as a lecturer in Chemistry Department. Prof. Al Kindy is a winner of several international awards and a member of international organisations.
She has been elected as a Fellow of TWAS (the academy of sciences for the developing world) in 2010.
Prof. Al Kindy is the recipient of the United States Department of State’s award under the Women in Science Hall of Fame programme-2013.
