Pakistan embassy counsellor meets expats in Sohar community outreach initiative

Muscat: Muhammad Ishaq, Counsellor (Commercial and Education) of Pakistan Embassy visited Sohar recently as part of a community outreach initiative to maintain a sustained trajectory of contacts with the Pakistani diaspora across the Sultanate.
Mr. Ishaq convened a community meeting and also held discussions with parents on the status of education and facilities offered in Sohar. He briefed the community on the launch of online platform for youth titled 'Young Pakistan Forum Oman' and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support towards organising events as part of a six-week long celebrations of 70th Anniversary of Day of Independence of Pakistan across the Sultanate.
He also appreciated last year's celebrations of Oman National Day by the Pakistani community and solicited their support for the forthcoming 47th National Day of Oman to furthering Pakistan's strong friendship with the Sultanate.
There are 272,000 Pakistani residing in Oman. Sohar, being hub of commercial and trade activities, is home to around 20,000 Pakistanis whose number is on the rise since the shifting of trade activity to Sohar Port from and the launch of Sohar Airport since July, 2017.
