Here's why 138 young Omanis will be honoured by the government

Muscat: The National Youth Commission is planning to honor more than 130 young Omanis to celebrate Omani Youth Day on October 26.

115 male and 23 female young Omanis will be honored for their achievements at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

Every year, the National Youth Commission celebrates young Omanis who have achieved local, regional and international achievements in various scientific, social, technical, cultural and other fields to highlight them as successful models and honour them on the national day of youth.

The commission has hailed the royal initiative for observing October 26 to be 'Omani Youth Day' each year, which symbolises His Majesty's wise vision, honour and care for the youth at all levels.
In the past three years, the commission has honored 380 young Omani projects.

During the celebration, nine winning teams will be honoured within the "weakom" competition. The competition, aims to enrich volunteering, empower young people and direct their energies towards advancing the development of the country. Both the commission and Nama Group are working on finalising the evaluation process for the teams to choose the nine winning teams.

The competition targets three main categories: voluntary teams, non-profit associations, sports clubs and affiliated teams. The competition was launched in mid-June of this year, and the applications are evaluated by a specialised team in the field of sustainability and voluntary work according to the conditions set for the competition, the most important of which is the sustainability of the project and the quality of implementation.
