First government communication forum kicks off at Sultan Qaboos University

Muscat: Under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, the activities of the first government communication forum kicked off at Sultan Qaboos University Cultural Centre.

At the event ministers, undersecretaries and employees at the government institutions were present.

The forum is organised by the Government Communication Centre at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers. the forum aimed to further cement government communication .

The first day of the forum witnessed the launch of the accounts of the government services communication centre at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers.



The accounts of the government services communication centre were launched under the name of “government communication” through Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. during the launch of the accounts a video introducing the vision on His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said non-communication in 1975.

His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said gave a speech in which he reaffirmed the significance of the efforts which aimed to exchange of expertise among the personnel operating in the field of communication which also aimed to further enhance communication between the government

institutions and the society.

Sheikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, commented on the launch of the accounts of social communication of the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers by saying “we have opened windows for e. windows for communication with the society through direct management of the government services communication centre at the Secretariat General of the Council

of Ministers”.

He added that the opening of such communication windows has come in response to the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Sayyid Bader bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry said that “the Foreign Ministry is a partner to the other state apparatuses and the society in terms of the efforts aimed to keep abreast of the development in the field of communication”.

The forum reviewed the experiments of Britain and Singapore in the field of government communication.
