New segment of Sur road opens in Oman

Muscat: An 18km segment of the Bidbid to Sur road has been opened by the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
The opening of the road section means a total of 109km of three-lane road has now been completed.
Eng. Salim bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Transportation said in a statement that the ministry is opening the first part of the second stage of the 131 km long Bidbid-Sur road dualisation project, which starts from Masroon in the Wilayat of Ibra in the Governorate of North A’Sharqiyah to the Wilayat of Sur in the Governorate of South A'Sharqiyah.
He pointed out that the part opened this month is 18km long in the Wilayat of Bidiyah in the Governorate of North A’Sharqiyah.
He added that the route of this part has been amended to avoid passing inside the wilayat.
This section includes three flyovers and two tunnels to serve the traffic activity for A’Dhahir, Al Wasil, Al Ghabbi, A’Shariq, Al Muntarib, Al Hawiyah and Helat Al Wabariyah villages in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, he said.
