Tillerson pushes for closer ties between Saudi Arabia, Iraq

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Sunday in Riyadh that the growing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iraq was "vital" to bolstering the collective security, cooperation in the fight against IS and prosperity between the U.S. and both countries.

Tillerson was in Riyadh to meet with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi for the inaugural session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council.
He also had a photo op with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The council's creation was promoted by the Trump administration to improve relations between Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
