Fake notes gang held in Oman

Muscat: Seven African nationals were arrested with OMR17 thousand worth of fake currency, the Royal Oman Police announced.

An official source at the Royal Oman Police said: "Seven people of African nationalities, including a woman, were arrested in the case of fraud and circulation of counterfeit notes of OMR 50," ROP said.

"The police stations of Ruwi and Al Azaiba and the Department of Criminal Investigation in Muscat Added that the tools, devices, seals, safes, and other papers prepared for counterfeiting were seized. Also, approximately OMR 17 thousand worth of fake money was sized including precious jewelry and watches," the source added.

The main suspect was arrested along with a woman and another accused while they were exchanging money in Ruwi to be transferred out of the Sultanate, according to police.

The rest of the suspects were arrested in Al Azaiba and the case is still pending.
