The Ministry of Tourism celebrates Omani Women’s Day

Muscat: Omani Women's Day was celebrated by the Ministry of Tourism on October 17 under the auspices of Nada bint Hassan bin Mohammed Al Jamali, a member of Oman State Council, and a member of the board of directors of Dar Al Atta'a.
The event celebrated Omani women in the tourism industry, shedding light on the major role that women are playing to uplift the Omani tourism sector.
The event included a musical operetta by Ruwa Al Mustsqbal School, a presentation on empowering women through tourism entrepreneurship by Dr. Lubna Al Mazrooi, a speech by Raya Al Riyami on her experience as the first female Omani tour guide, and an exhibition by artist Sanaa Al Yahmadi and two SMEs restaurants owned by talented Omani women. The Mnistry of Tourism had also organised a tour for female employees around Muscat.
Since the advent of Omani renaissance, it is noteworthy that women have played a crucial role in the development of the country in various areas such as tourism; and have demonstrated their ability to work in diverse positions in the tourism sector.
Wisal Al Harthy, General Manager of 1000 Nights Camp located in A’Sharqiyah Sands averred, “Omani women are able to offer much more in the field of tourism, especially in administrative positions within the main establishments of tourism..”
Shaikha Mohammad Al Majali, the General Manager of Masirah Hotel is an Omani woman who believed in making a career in the tourism sector, and also contributing towards reaching her ambitions through working in tourism, “I love my job, as it gives me the opportunity to deal with Omani and foreign tourists helping identify their needs. This works perfectly, especially in a place like Masirah Island, where visitors come to practice sports’ activities such as surfing, fishing and recreation. I feel humbled to be able to help and support them”, she said.
