Oman Tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani makes winning start in Tunisia

Muscat: Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani made winning start to her campaign in the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Hammamet Open in Tunisia winning both her singles and doubles matches on Wednesday.
In the first round of singles competition, where she is seeded second, Fatma eased to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over American wildcard Sofia Booth.
In the second round, Fatma will square off against Tunisian qualifier Mouna Bouzgarrou, who registered a similar 6-1, 6-3 win over another wildcard Nicole Bunea of Canada.
Later in the afternoon session, Fatma combined well with her German partner Katharina Hering to defeat Austrian duo of Elena Griessner and Kersin Peckl in their first round match.
Second-seeded Fatma and Katharina were took good for the Austrians as they cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win.
The reward for their first round victory is a place in the quarterfinals where Fatma and Katharina will take on Nicole Bunea of Canada and Mirabelle Njobe of Great Britain.
Nicole and Mirabelle advanced to the last eight stage after a 6-1, 6-1 win over Michela Xibilia of Italy and Maqdalena Stoilkovska of Macedonia.
