Oman squash: Al Ittifaq Club lift title at Oman Clubs Squash Championship

Al Ittifaq defeated Al Musannah to take the top honours while Al Wusta won against Sohar Club to take third place.

Muscat: Al Ittifaq Club overcame a stiff challenge from Al Musannah Club to emerge the champions at the second Oman Clubs Squash Championship here recently.

In the final of the championship, organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports Affairs at Ras Al Hamra Recreation Club, Al Ittifaq defeated Al Musannah by a 3-2 margin to take the top honours.

Earlier, Al Wusta Club emerged 3-0 winners over Sohar Club to settle for the third place.

Sulaiman bin Khamis Al Qasmi, Director General of Assets at Oman Wastewater Services Company (Haya Water), presided over the prize-giving ceremony and handed over the prizes in the presence of Mohammed Al Yahmadi, Director of Sports Activities Department at the Ministry of Sports Affairs, and other ministry officials.

In his remarks, Mohammed Al Yahmadi said the ministry will do everything needed to work for the development squash in the country.

He also said that Sports Activities Department will also try to get more support for the future championships besides the assistance being provided by the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
