Oman Cricket: Salman Stores stun Sinha, Basta and Al Fairuz record victories

Muscat: Salman Stores inflicted an embarrassing 167-run defeat on Sinha in a 50-over A Division match at the Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground I in Al Amerat.
Sinha were left to rue their decision to bowl first after winning the toss as Salman Stores seemed to have good fun under the sun with four of the their main batsmen slamming fifty plus scores. Jahanzeb Asgar Ali (84 off 98), Ghazanfar Iqbal (62 off 33), Asim Kamal (61 off 79) and Amandeep Singh (53 off 54) all batted well to spur Salman Stores to a huge 337 for seven in 50 overs.
Muhammed Azeem chipped in with a quickfire 23 off 100 balls with three sixes. Baddage Don claimed four wickets for 59 in his quota of ten overs.
Left-arm pacer Muzammil Ilyas has another good outing with the ball and took two early wickets to upset Sinha plans. A couple of runouts left Sinha reeling at 45 for five and literally out of the game.
All-rounder Asim Kamal prospered with the ball too, taking three wickets for just 14 runs. Nalinda Prasad topsocred with a laborious 32 off 65 balls as Sinha were skittled out for 168 in 40.3 overs.

Murad’s ton lifts Basta

Murad Khan’s hurricane 114 off just 41 balls set the C Division league competition on fire as his team Basta CT thrashed Attic Outdoors by 159 runs in a match played at Muscat Municipality Ground I on Friday.
Murad scored his runs with the help of 11 huge sixes and six fours at an unbelievable strike rate of 278, leading Basta to a mammoth 274 for three in 20 overs. Opener Prasad Peruli batted well too for his 83 off 43 balls. Fellow opener Deepak Gakhar scored a quickfire 29-ball 46.
Attic Outdoors failed to mount a challenge and folded up for only 115 in 16.2 overs. Jeason Jacob George bagged four wickets for 22 runs while Deepak Gakha took two for 17.
Brief scores: Basta CT 274 for 3 in 20 overs (Murad Khan 114, Prasad Peruli 84, Deepak Gakhar 46) bt Attic Outdoors 115 all out in 16.2 overs (Madhur Bhatnagar 27, Shakeel Muhammed Khan 27).
Al Fairuz win thriller
Al Fairuz registered a thrilling 20-run victory over Waves Engineering Consultancy in a C Division game at Muscat Municipality Ground III.
Batting first, Al Fairuz were bowled out for 143 in 19 overs, Zaheer Ahmed leading the way with a fluent 38 off 27 balls and Ranjiht Kumar Ranju scoring 35 off 28. Asman Asghar claimed three wickets for 22.
Needing a good start, Waves Engineering found themsleves struggling at 57 for six in the ninth over and could manage only 141 for nine in 20 overs, falling short by just two runs. Kamaljot Singh topscored with a run a ball 45. Sajith Mohandas and Satham Hussain bagged three wickets each.

Oman Cricket bans Dhiyab
Meanwhile, Oman Cricket showing zero tolerance for indiscipline or unruly behaviour on the field of play has banned Omani player Dhiyab Al Balushi from participating in the tournaments conducted by the game’s governing body in the Sultanate.
In a statement Oman Cricket said: “In a League match against Bank Muscat, Dhiyab Al Balushi of National Bank of Oman, made an inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with an umpire, breaching the Player’s Code of Conduct and causing what constitutes a Level IV offence.”
“In view of his offence, OC has banned Dhiyab from taking part in all tournaments and activities conducted by Oman Cricket in the future,” the statement added.
