Generous Omani gifts new homes to families in Oman

Muscat: More than 120 homes have been donated to families in need and orphans in Al Buraimi by an Omani who chose to remain anonymous.
The kind-hearted well-wisher donated 110 houses in the Al Rawdha and Al Kehel areas in the Al Buraimi Governorate and another 14 homes in Mahadhah.
Another registered charity is also planning to hand over 31 houses as part of its charity drive.
“Al Jisr Charity Foundation is now planning on building 31 houses in different areas in Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, and parts of Al Sharqiyah and Al Batinah,” said Ahmed Al Harthy, the general manager at Al Jisr Charity Foundation. The charity collaborated with the Ministry of Housing, to provide housing aid for people in need and underprivileged families entitled to Zakat (alms) across Oman.
Al Harthy added that the foundation gets applications from people in need and collaborates with the Ministry of Housing to provide housing, and that each house is different from the other depending on the number of family members and their individual needs. “Currently, we have stopped receiving new housing applications as we are working on approved housing cases,” he added.
Early this year, the Al Jisr Charity Foundation successfully completed and delivered 36 houses. Since the establishment of Al Jisr, more than 416 houses have been provided, of which, 63 homes were provided just last year.
Based on statistics issued from the Ministry of Housing, over 100 families have benefitted from the ministry’s Housing Assistance programme, which costs a total of OMR2.8 million.
During the 2012-2015 period, the ministry approved the construction of 666 housing units helping underprivileged families—370 in Dhofar, 229 in Al Al Dakhiliyah, 50 in Al Wusta and 17 in South Sharqiyah.
