Oman’s shares end lower on profit booking

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index declined 0.34 per cent to close the session at 5,207.73 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 757.19 points, down 0.74 per cent. OIFC was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Oman National Engineering, up 8.38 per cent, remained the top gainer while Oman Cables Industry was the top loser with a loss of 6.35 per cent.
A total number of 767 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR2.88 million with 15.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 11 advanced, 13 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the end of the trading session, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR355,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR271,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR84,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,502.37 points, down 0.13 per cent. Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Takaful, Vision Insurance, Al Ahlia Insurance and Bank Nizwa increased 3.81 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.40 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively. Bank Sohar, Al Madina Investments, Al Izz Bank, Al Anwar Holding and NBO lost 1.83 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 0.67 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index had strong loss of 0.89 per cent to finish at 6,972.39 points. Oman Fisheries, up 2.73 per cent, was the only gainer. Oman Cables, Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Refreshments declined 6.35 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively.
Services Index advanced 0.48 per cent to end at 2,579.19 points. Oman National Engineering, Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power, Al Suwadi Power and Al Jazeera Services increased 8.38 per cent, 6.15 per cent, 3.20 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively. Port Services, OIFC, Ooredoo and Omantel declined 2.93 per cent, 1.24 per cent, 0.78 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.
