Telecom innovations conference discusses latest technology

Muscat: Oman Telecom Innovations conference started on Monday discussing strategies to develop the ICT sector in Oman.
The conference was held at Crowne Plaza under the patronage of Sayyid Fahad bin Al Julanda bin Majid Al Said, assistant secretary general for Innovation Support, The Research Council (TRC).
The two day conference was organised under the auspices of Ministry of Transport & Communications and had the support of The Research Council.
The conference was sponsored by Omantel (Oman Telecommunications Company) and Public Establishment for Industrial Estate (PEIE).
A number of government and non-government stake holders responsible for development of telecommunications, innovations and information communication technologies (ICT); that help benefit government, business, education, consumer, youth and children showcased their commitment and contribution by sharing their vision and strategies at the Conference towards achieving a unified goal of Oman National Development Agenda.
The conference and exhibition covered borderless broadband, cloud and big data, connect everywhere, IoT (Internet of Things), enterprise mobility, security and cyber security, smart cities, and Satcomm.
"Such events help us come together and speak more on the developments made in ICT sector," Dr. Ali Al Shidhani, head of research at TRC said.
“The event received support and participation from major government organisations who have a stake in the innovation programme of Oman National Development Agenda,” said Sheikh Said bin Saif bin Hashil Al Maskari, director of Trifoil Expo.
Trifoil Expo is a professional exhibition organising company which works with major clients in government and corporate sector.
The central idea of the event is to discuss telecom innovations and how it will impact the way we communicate by 2020 and ICT SME Development; when telecommunication innovation and opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SME’s) open up there will be a large number of SME’s interested in this field including app development, technology development and smart software, said Sadiq Ahmed Khan, managing director of Tafani Events & Research.
The event had delegates attend from various sectors and 14 expert papers were presented. Tafani Events & Research is an Omani International company that only works on events powered by research which have a direct impact on National Development Agenda.
