Nepal, Oman enjoy good ties, says Nepali ambassador

Muscat: Nepali expatriates living in Oman celebrated their country’s national day in the Sultanate on Wednesday evening.
The first Nepali Residential Ambassador in Oman, Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, presided over the celebrations at Hotel Grand Hyatt. “It is my distinct honour and privilege to represent Nepal as the first residential ambassador in the Sultanate of Oman.
“I express my sincere gratitude to the Government of Nepal for assigning me with this foremost responsibility. Nepal and Oman have been enjoying excellent relations ever since the establishment of diplomatic ties on January 21, 1977.
“The presence of a large number of fellow Nepali nationals in this country has helped strengthen people-to-people relations between our two countries, apart from their contribution to the economic development of Oman and the economy of Nepal. Their safety, security and well-being receive our top priority,” she said.
The programme commenced with the national anthem of Oman and Nepal.
Welcoming the guests, Dhakal highlighted the features of the constitution of Nepal, such as federalism, inclusive administration, gender equality, multi-party democracy, independence of judiciary, rule of law, democracy and development.
While speaking about Nepal-Oman relations, Dhakal also expressed her confidence that in the days ahead bilateral relations will grow stronger, to the mutual satisfaction of both countries and people.
The Ambassador extended her best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his personal health, happiness and well-being, as well as continued peace and prosperity to the people of the Sultanate. She urged all guests to visit Nepal. After the speech, Guest of Honour Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, and Dhakal jointly cut the ceremonial cake.
The Embassy also promoted Nepal’s tourism and culture by displaying large-framed photographs of their major tourist destinations, mountains, and Nepali handicrafts in the hotel hallway.
Also, a video of Nepal’s main tourist attractions and products was played on a screen throughout the programme.
