Oman shares start week on a negative note

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index started the week on a negative note ending the trading session at 4997.65 points, down 0.10 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.34 per cent to close at 736.31 points. Renaissance Services was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. It was the top gainer, up 5.39 per cent, while Oman & Emirates Investment was the top loser, down 5.26 per cent.
A total number of 437 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR1.36 million with 7.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 11 advanced, 8 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the end of the session, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR59,000 while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR46,000, followed by Foreign Investors who sold stocks worth of OMR13,000.
Financial Index retreated 0.27 per cent to finish at 7,377.01 points. Taageer Finance and Bank Sohar prices gained by 0.89 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively while prices of Oman & Emirates Investments, Bank Dhofar, Al Sharqiya Investments, and Al Ahlia Insurance declined by 5.26 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 0.99 per cent, and 0.64 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6819.10 points, up 0.66 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Oman Flour Mills, Galfar Engineering, Oman Cement, and National Aluminium gained by 3.56 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.01 per cent, and 0.60 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, and Oman Fisheries declined by 1.64 per cent, and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Services Index had a gain of 0.53 per cent to end at 2,501.19 points. Renaissance Services, National Gas, Oman National Engineering, and Oredoo gained by 5.39 per cent, 2.55 per cent, 1.33 per cent, and 0.47 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah, and Port Services Corporation gained by 0.89 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.
