Horse racing: Royal Cavalry of Oman’s ‘Nafees’ wins President of the UAE Cup

Muscat: Royal Cavalry of Oman’s ‘Nafees’ won the President of the UAE Cup at UK Doncaster racecourse on Saturday.
‘Nafees’, ridden by T. P. O’Shea and trained by Charels Gourdain, took the top honours in the 2,000m race for four-year old horses in the UK Arabian Derby.
The second place went to Ahzar, which was owned and trained by D. De Watrigant and ridden by Francos X Bertras.
Motrag, owned by Al Shaqab Racing Club and riddern by F. Bughenaim and trained by Thomas Fourcy, finished in the third place.
Brigadier General Abdulrazak Al Shahwarzi, commander
of the Royal Cavalry of Oman, called the technical and administrative team of ‘Nafees’ and conveyed to them the congratulations and greetings of Nasr Humood Al Kindi, Secretary-General of Royal Court Affairs.
Al Shahwarzi also expressed his joy on ‘Nafees’ winning the title.
It is worth mentioning that ‘Nafees’ is bred by the Royal Cavalry of Oman and participated in five races of Group 1 and won four, including French Debry Cup.
