Oman karate referees prove their worth in Germany tournament

Muscat: Three Omani karate referees proved their worth with their excellent work in the Premier League in Halle Leipzig, Germany recently.
According to information provided by Oman Karate Committee, referees Sulaiman bin Khalifa Al Hinai, Yousuf bin Musallam Al Siyabi and Hilal bin Mohammed Al Abdali showed their good judgement while officiating in the competitions, drawing appreciation from both the participants and the organisers.
Meanwhile, in the field of play Oman was represented by Ali bin Talib Al Raissi who participated in the individual kata competitions.
For the record, Japan emerged the champions winning 17 medals. The second placed went to Russia while hosts Germany settled for the third place.
The Ministry of sports Affairs and Oman Karate Committee, which is headed by Brigadier Abdul Malik bin Ghassan Al Mazroui, has been paying great attention to the development of karate in the Sultanate.
As part of the development programme, Oman Karate Committee will organsie the second Salalah Championship in October and the 10th Championship of Karate in Muscat.
The two championships will serve as selection events for the committee to pick players for the national team.
