New identity for Omani Calendar Application and e-Zakat System launched by Awqaf Ministry

Muscat: A new identity for the Omani Calendar Application and e-Zakat System were launched in the Sultanate on Wednesday.

The launches were done by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs under the auspices of Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.

The launching ceremony included a film on the calendar history in Islam.

The film highlighted the importance of astronomy in the Hijra calendar and how it contributed to having accurate timing for prayers.



The film also shed light on the role played by Islamic astrologists, their contributions and innovation, as well as the role of the Omanis in Omani calendar.

The Omani calendar application which has been launched by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs allows users to know the Hijra and Gregorian calendar, as well as the prayer timings.

It also includes an e-note and allows users to know the shape of moon every night.

The event was attended by a number of ministers, undersecretaries, members of Majlis A’Shura, advisors and a number of officials at the Ministry.
