Oman shares recover on scattered support

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse recovered on scattered support from retail investors. Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index closed at 5,016.61 points, registering a marginal gain of 0.12 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index ended at 734.85 points, higher by 0.13 per cent.

Ahli Bank was the most active in terms of volume while Al Maha Petroleum was the most active in terms of turnover on Wednesday’s trading. Port Services, up 5.03 per cent, was the top gainer, while Renaissance Services, down 2.05 per cent, was the top loser.

A total number of 508 trades were executed, generating turnover of OMR2.85 million with 11.38 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 12 advanced, 8 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the end of the session, GCC & Arab Investors were net buyers for OMR125,000 while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR106,000 followed by Omani Investors for OMR19,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index gained 0.10 per cent to close at 7,442.13 points. Gulf Investment Services, Al Batinah Development, HSBC Bank and Vision Insurance increased 2.60 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance, Al Madina Investment, Ahli Bank and Bank Muscat lost 1.74 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index advanced 0.36 per cent to finish at 6,763.81 points. Gulf International Chemicals, Voltamp Energy, Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Jazeera Steel and Oman Flour Mills gained 4.65 per cent, 1.83 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively. Oman Cement and Galfar Engineering retreated 1.46 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively.

Services Index ended at 2,466.01 points, up 0.03 per cent. Port Services, Oman National Engineering and Oman Telecommunications gained 5.03 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.22 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services and OIFC declined 2.05 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively.
