Minister of Commerce issues event management regulation in Oman

Muscat: A ministerial decision on management of exhibitions has been issued.
Dr. Ali bin Mas’oud Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry issued the Ministerial Decision No. 182/2017 issuing the Regulation for the Regularisation and Management of Exhibitions.
The Regulation is based on the Commercial Registration Law No. 3/74 and the Royal Decree No. 11/2017 defining the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and approving its organisational chart.
It is also based on the Regulation for the Regularisation and Management of Exhibitions issued by the Ministerial Decision No. 77/2011 and public interest dictates. As per the Decision, commercial enterprises operating in the field of event management should adjust their conditions as per the attached Regulation within a year at maximum from the date the Regulation comes into force.
The exemptions from applying the Regulations include the specialised consumer exhibitions at Oman International Exhibition Centre and its branches in 2017, as well as the exhibitions associated with the festivals and forums organised at the different governorates in the Sultanate in 2017.
The Ministerial Decision cancels all that may contradict or contravene its provisions.
