Handball: Zubair Corporation renews sponsorship agreement with Oman Handball Association

Muscat: Continuing with their attempts to provide support to various sports associations and athletes, Zubair Corporation has renewed their sponsorship agreement with the Oman Handball Association.
The sponsorship agreement was sealed during a signing ceremony organised at the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Headquarters on Tuesday with Rashid bin Abdullah Al Hooti, General Manager External Affairs at Zubair Corporation, and Said bin Ahmed Al Shuhri, Chairman of Oman Handball Association (OHA), putting ink to the paper in the presence of OOC Vice-Chairman Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosni.
The sponsorship agreement comes as part of OOC’s ‘Sport for Development’ programme and Zubair Corporation’s initiative to activate partnership between the private establishments and sports sector.
Speaking on the occasion, OOC Vice-Chairman Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosni said: “Our plans are based on the vision adopted by Oman Olympic Committee and sports associations under the theme “Sport for Development” which aims at propagating sports culture within the society.
“This culture reflects the educational, moral and health values which further contribute to achieving comprehensive development at the social and national levels in Oman.”
“The process of integration and cooperation with various corporations and economic organizations plays a vital and significant role in achieving these goals. In addition, this trend led to yet further qualitative achievements and attainment of good levels of success in the field of sport,” he added.
“The last few years have witnessed remarkable transition in the field of sports marketing. As a result, an economic dimension has been set in sport opening up new prospects for companies and economic establishments encouraging them to sponsor various sports activities and events. Thus, Oman Olympic Committee and sports associations could achieve their mutual interests with the help of such establishments,” he said.
“This will certainly have a positive bearing on building relations that would in the long run enable us to achieve considerable gains and further activate the concepts of sports investment and partnership with the private sector.
“This is typically the strategy that Oman Olympic Committee pursues in cooperation with the sports associations. The ultimate goal is to materialise the concepts of professional management and ensure sustainability of development and integrated growth.”
The OOC official also thanked the Zubair Corporation for their continued support.
“I would like to thank Zubair Corporation and Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad Al Zubair for renewing the Support and Sponsorship Agreement and for the constant support that they accord to the association’s activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, OOC Secretary-General Taha bin Suleiman Al Kishry stressed the importance of the approach adopted by OOC towards popularising and developing various sports and getting the much-needed support from the private sector for the purpose.
He also lauded the role played by Zubair Corporation in supporting various activities, including sports, and in turn promoting the Sultanate’s sports profile at international arenas.
“Oman Handball Association has been achieving success at various levels and the beach handbll team have for the seventh time qualified for the World Cup to be organised in Russia in 2018. All these achievements are thanks to such support from the private sector,” he said.
