Muscat: Applications for the National Research Award (NRA) have begun as The Research Council (TRC) heads into the fourth cycle.
Registration for the NRA is open until Saturday the 7th of October. The winners will be announced during the Annual Research Forum in December of this year.
The NRA aims at encouraging researchers to conduct high quality research of national relevance and it is divided into two categories; Best published research led by a PhD holder or equivalent (Consultant or senior consultant in the medical field) and Best published research led by a young researcher (a non-PhD holder). It covers six research fields and they are Education and Human Resources, Information Systems and Communication Technologies, Health and Community Service, Cultural, Social, and Basic Sciences, Energy and Industry, and Environmental and Biological Resources.
The general conditions include that the applicant must be the first author, whose name appears first, on the published research. The research topic of an applicant must be of relevance to the Sultanate of Oman and falls under one of the six research fields of the award. The published research must not have won any other award nationally or internationally.
To be considered for the NRA, the research must have been published after the 30th of June, 2014 in a refereed journal indexed in Scopus or Web of Science or in one of the Arabic periodicals listed in the Award’s website.
In order for their applications to be considered, applicants must submit their complete applications electronically through the Research Council’s website.
