Omanisation to be top priority for Mysk hotel at Al Mouj Marina

Muscat: Oman’s newest upscale hotel, which is set to open in October 2017, will be primarily staffed by Omanis as it looks to align itself with the nation’s Omanisation policy from the get-go.
Located on the Al Mouj Marina, Mysk by Shaza Al Mouj is currently under construction, and the finishing touches are currently being put to the waterfront hotel, which is expected to have around 135 employees when it opens in about a month and a half.

“It is part of our responsibility to educate young Omanis who have finished university by giving them training and the skills required to work in the hospitality industry, so that when tourists come, they will be able to experience the true nature of the kind and welcoming people of this country,” said Shafik Alaaeddine, general manager for Mysk Al Mouj.

“This programme was initially started by Shaza Al Medina - Shaza's first hotel - in Saudi Arabia, where they made it a priority to train young nationals in this industry, and since we are part of that group, we will incorporate these values here as well,” he added. “Even if Omanisation was not a priority in Oman, it's our repsonsibility in the hospitality sector to train the locals here and give them the openings in the country.”

A joint venture between the world-famous Kempinski chain of hotels and the Shaza Hotels Investment Company, Shaza currently has 10 hotels that are either up and running or soon to be established.

While their first hotel was opened in Medina, in Saudi Arabia, and their second is soon to be operational in Muscat, Shaza is also constructing a resort in Salalah, in addition to further offerings in Riyadh, Dubai, Jeddah and Doha.

The chain is also a member of the Global Hotel Alliance, a group of more than 35 internationally-renowned hotel brands, and as such, Mysk Al Mouj is also committed to providing the best service to its guests.

“We will be just seven minutes from the new airport, so we are perfectly positioned for those who wish to stay here for a couple of days, and conduct their business meetings instead of driving into town, which may take them some time,” said Alaaeddine.

“All of our rooms come with high-speed internet connections and smart services, which allow you to connect your devices to multiple amenities, such as the television for example.”

“In addition we are in the heart of a new residential community in Oman in Al Mouj, and so we are open to families who want to come here and experience Oman for a few days,” he added.

“We have plenty of connecting rooms that are ideal for families who wish to stay together but still enjoy their privacy, as well as plenty of family-friendly amenities ready and waiting.”

“Plus, this is The Wave!” he quipped. “If the children want to play by the beach, they can, if you want to take part in water sports activities, the marina is right here. We are also really close to many of the beaches here, and Muscat City Centre and many other malls are just a few minutes’ drive away so we are very ideally located.” Alaaeddine was also quick to explain how Mysk aligned itself with the Sultanate’s Tanfeedh directives, one of which looked at tourism expansion.

“Under the vision and the sponsorship of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Oman is planning on reaching its full potential as a tourist destination, and I invite everyone to come here, because it is a hidden haven in the Middle East.

“There is a spontaneity here that is not present elsewhere, and you can do whatever you want to do, whether it is exploring the natural beauty of the country, or engaging in water sports, or just looking around the city.”
