New Release: Attraction
Directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk, this Russian science-fiction drama film is about an alien spaceship that crash-lands in Moscow and how the locals show their displeasure and anger at the unwelcome guest. The plot revolves around Colonel Valentin Lebedev whose daughter develops a romantic relationship with the alien Hekon whose spaceship crashes in Moscow. There unique emotional love story is the core of the film around which the entire storyline revolves. The director had said in one of his interviews that the film is not just any other sci-fi movie but more about “humanity and tolerance” and how we see each other. This film also ushers in a new era of Russian sci-fi blockbuster.

If you love watching horror films your wait is finally over as this much awaited film hits the screens. Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman this 2017 American supernatural horror film is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle. This is a story of a dollmaker and his wife who lost their daughter in a tragic incident and years later when some children from an orphanage visit them, they become target of a possessed creation, Annabelle.

Paris Can Wait
Cast: Diane Lane, Alec Baldwin, Arnaud Viard

Directed by Eleanor Coppola, this film is a story of Anne and her life’s dilemmas is at a crossroads in her life. Married to a successful but not so caring person who happens to be a film producer, owing to some turn of events she goes on a road trip from Cannes to Paris with her husband’s business partner. And it is during this seven-hour drive she finds a new facet of her life which turns into a two-day affair replete with adventure, humour, love and a new zest for life.

Bareilly Ki Barfi
Cast: Kriti Sanon, Rajkumar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana

Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari this romantic comedy film is this week’s much-awaited Bollywood release and is a story of a young and carefree girl who lives in a small town called Bareilly. Owing to her free-spirited nature she is considered a misfit in her traditional town and finally runs away from her house as she cannot handle the pressures of getting married. During her escapade she finds a book titled, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’.
What happens next? Must watch for some light humour.

Varnyathil Aashanka
Cast: Kunchacko Boban, Chemban Vinod Jose,
Manikandan R. Achari, Suraj Venjaramoodu

Directed by Sidharth Bharathan this Malayalam film revolves around the lives of four Trichur-based crooks, Kowta Sivan, Paara Wilson, Chembakara Gilbert, and Pratheesh. During the turn of events when they were busy robbing a jewellery shop they meet with a lazy man who survives on his wife’s wealth. There is a sudden turn of events when the police arrives. Must watch film for its impressive climax and Suraj’s great performance.

A Tale of Shadows
Cast: Angelica Narbut, Khaldoun Asfari, Mohamed Yahia

Filmed in Dubai and directed by Tariq Al Kazim this film is about a hardworking man working in a distant farm who meets an eccentric psychopath there. Soon strange things start taking place as the man stumbles upon weird things; a man with a pocket watch, a woman wearing a white robe, and some figures walking around the farm. In an endeavour to find out the real reason behind all these strange incidents happening he discovers something very unexpected. What was it?

The Man with the Iron Heart
Cast: Jason Clarke, Rosamund Pike, Jack O’Connell, Jack Reynor, Mia Wasikowska

Directed by Cédric Jimenez this is a French biographical war thriller drama film. This film is based on French writer Laurent Binet’s novel HHhH, and the plot of the film is on the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during World War II when the Czech resistance in London decides to plan the most ambitious military operation, Anthropoid. Two young officers are sent to Prague on this mission.
