Oman economy: Consumer Price Index rises 1.93% at end of 2nd Quarter 2017

Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has issued the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the second quarter of 2017.
It showed that the consumer price index in the Sultanate increased by 1.93 per cent at the end of the second quarter of 2017 compared to the same quarter of 2016.
The bulletin includes three tables: Table 1 on consumer price indices in Oman; Table 2 shows the percentage change in consumer price indices by governorates for commodity groups compared with the same month of the previous year, and Table 3, which deals with the rate of change in consumer prices compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
The bulletin reviewed the index of consumer price indices in the Sultanate according to the base year of 2012, the index for 2016 and the percentage of change in the previous month compared to the same month of the previous year, at the level of the Sultanate and then at the level of the governorates in the first table.
The second table, which relates to the percentage change in consumer price indices by governorates for commodity groups with the same month of the previous year, shows a review of the general index and then the rate of change in 12 groups, such as the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and shoes range and miscellaneous personal goods and services.
The third table on the percentage change in consumer price indices compared to the same quarter of the previous year includes a number of important indicators for consumer goods by type of consumption in detail.
