Omani scientist bags third place in Arab research award

Muscat: Dr. Saif bin Ali bin Salim Al Khamisi, Head of Field Crops Research Department at the Directorate General of Agricultural and Animal Research at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries won the third place in the Arab World in the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils (UASRC) Award for 2016 for his research in the field of water.
His work is entitled “Proposed Use of Treated Water and Groundwater in Crop Cycles”.
Mathematical modelling
Dr. Saif Al Khamisi said: “The research is a mathematical modeling and mathematical calculations through which we calculate the quantities of treated water we need and the areas of land that can be covered by the water through the cultivation of crop cycle during the whole year”. He added that this research helps decision makers to the right direction to expand the use of treated water in agricultural production.
Sudan
The UASRC Secretariat General organised a ceremony to distribute the award of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils for 2016 in the Sudanese capital Khartoum under the patronage of Dr. Sumaya Abu Kashwa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan.
