Muscat bourse marginally recovers on scattered support

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse marginally recovered on scattered support. The MSM30 Index closed the session at 4,977.53 points, up 0.15 per cent. MSM Sharia Index gained 0.32 per cent to end at 733.51 points. Al Izz Bank was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel led in terms of turnover. Bank Nizwa, up 2.17 per cent was the top gainer, while Gulf International Chemicals was the top loser, down 4.25 per cent.
A total number of 321 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR2.54 million with 8.98 million shares changing hands. Out of 26 traded securities, 5 advanced, 6 declined and 15 remained unchanged. Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR906,000 followed by GCC and Arab Investors for OMR7,000 while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR913,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,458.22 points, up 0.24 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Investments, Al Izz Bank and NBO gained 2.17 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.39 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding and HSBC Bank decreased 1.04 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index had marginal loss of 0.08 per cent to end at 6,687.61 points. Gulf International Chemicals ended with a loss of 4.25 per cent.
Services Index declined 0.12 per cent to finish at 2,443.25 points. Ooredoo, up 0.47 per cent, was the only sector gainer. Al Jazeera Services, Renaissance Services and Omantel retreated 1.38 per cent, 0.57 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively.
