Five held in Oman drugs raids

Muscat: Multiple arrests have been made for possession, trafficking and abuse of marijuana in the Al Khuwair area, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

“The General Directorate for the Control of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances managed to arrest five persons of Asian nationality in the Al Khuwair area on charges of possession, trafficking and abuse of narcotic substances, and seized 40 cartons and four containers of marijuana,” the ROP said.

The legal proceedings have been taken against the accused and referred to the prosecution to complete the investigation.

The Royal Oman Police asks for all citizens and residents to cooperate in combating the drug scourge and to inform the police of any information that helps detect drug smugglers and drug traffickers by calling 9999,the toll free number 1444 or going to the nearest police station.
