Oman-Iran business dialogue concludes

Muscat: An Omani trade delegation has concluded it’s visit to the Republic of Iran.
The visit which was organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry comprised convening a number of meetings with a number of businessmen and officials at Jask City, Hormozgan Province.
The delegation was chaired by Khamis bin Abdullah Al Farsi, Director General of Commerce at the Directorate General of Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The delegation comprised a number of officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Wealth and businessmen.
The visit aimed to enhance trade relations between the two countries and holding a number of joint meetings to explore the investment and trade opportunities and enhancement of cooperation between the companies and establishments of private sectors of both the countries.
Khamis Al Farsi said that Jask City was chosen as it is close to Sohar Port and to the ease of accessibility to it for opening the direct import line for the various vegetable and fruits from Iran to the Sultanate and from the Sultanate to Iran. During the meetings we have expressed the interest of the Omani side in contracting with a specialised Iranian company on issuance of health certificates confirming that the agricultural products to be exported to the Sultanate in the future are free from residuals of insecticides. This is in addition to our interest in entering into direct deals between Omani farmers and traders and their Iranian counterparts for the import and export of fruits and vegetables.
