Fire in Ruwi contained, no casualties reported

Muscat: A fire in the Ruwi area was reported without casualties on Saturday, according to the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA).
"The fire is on the roof of the building and under control," PACDA said.
Earlier in March, a fire broke out in the basement of an apartment building located in the Central Business District of Ruwi.
The fire started in the basement, which housed a printing press and an AC installation and electrical repair shop.
In December of 2015, a fire broke out in a Ruwi High Street building, destroying thousands of rials worth of goods.
Workers at a nearby restaurant were staying in the top floor of the two-storey building, which caught fire. A mobile shop was running in the ground floor of the building, which is owned by the same owner of the restaurant.
According to the owner of the hotel, there were no workers in the room at the time of the fire.
“We do not know the reason for the fire, as around thousands of rials worth of goods were destroyed,” the owner told Times of Oman (TOO).
Goods, such as an AC, television, refrigerator, dresses, beds etc. were destroyed in the fire. None of the documents, such as passports and the residence card of the workers were lost in the fire.
“The reason behind the fire is unknown; officials came to the spot and took some samples to find out the reason behind the fire,” he added.
A fire and rescue team successfully put out the fire within an hour and half.
