Oman transport: Mwasalat to launch new service linking land and sea

Muscat: A new land-sea line will be launched on August 24 by Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat) and National Ferries Company (NFC).
The Muscat-Shinas-Khasab line will provide a unique transport experience by using buses on land and ferries across the sea. The first-of-its-kind service will consist of four round trips a week.
The journey’s duration will not exceed the length of the current ferry journey from Muscat to Khasab. This line will also provide the flexibility to start or end the journey in other cities in the Sultanate without additional costs or additional means of transfer.
Ticket prices and promotional offers will be available during the coming period through the official channels of the National Ferries Company and Oman National Transport Company.
There will be two trips on the Muscat-Shinas-Khasab route on Sunday and Thursday. The journey will take place on the same day from Muscat at 12:15 pm and the ferry will leave Shinas at 4:30 pm and arrive at Khasab at 7:00 pm.
The other two flights on the Khasab-Shinas-Muscat route will be on Saturdays and Tuesdays, the ferry will depart on the same day from Khasab at 1:00 pm and the bus will leave Shinas at 4:50 pm and arrive Muscat at 8:20 pm evening.
Commenting on the launch of the service, Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Hattami, CEO of ASYAD, said: “This is an important step which marks the culmination of efforts to develop the logistics sector in the Sultanate.
“The new line is necessary because of the low number of ferry users on the current Muscat-Khasab line and the high cost of financial support,” he added.
Ahmed Bin Ali Al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer of “Mwasalat”, said: “The new line is a continuation of the company’s efforts to provide service and facilitate its customers.”
Al Balushi stressed that “Mwasalat” has made every effort to invest its relations with various institutions in the Sultanate to strengthen the logistics sector and provide its services easily and easily.
Mehdi bin Mohammed Al Abdoudani, CEO of National Ferries Company said: “The new line is an important step to facilitate access to Musandam Governorate by connecting the land and sea services of the two companies”.
