Legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is beaten to the finish line by Justin Gatlin in his final 100 meter sprint finals at the World Athletics Championship in London. Ashraf Fahim reports.
A stunning upset in Athletics as Usain Bolt is finally beaten to the finish line.
American sprinter Justin Gatlin spoiled Bolt's farewell party at the World Athletics Championship, taking the 100 meters title away from the Jamaican sprinting legend.
As so often before Bolt made a bad start, but this time he couldn't make up the distance.
Twenty-one-year-old Christian Coleman, who beat Bolt in the semis, looked set for victory, but it was former world and Athletic champion Gatlin who took home the gold.
Gatlin won in 9.92 seconds, with Coleman taking silver in 9.94 and Bolt third in 9.95.Gatlin's win sparked a chorus of boos from a crowd unhappy with his doping past.
Bolt was seeking his fourth gold in the event before retiring next week after the sprint relay.
