Table tennis: 15 countries to take part Arab championships in Oman

Muscat: Even as Oman is preparing to host the Arab Table Tennis Championships, as many as fifteen countries have confirmed their participation in the 16th edition of the prestigious event that is scheduled to take place in Muscat later this month. According to Oman Table Tennis Committee, the Sultanate will be hosting talented paddlers from 15 Arab nations. The championships, to be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, will take place from August 15 to 20. According to information provided by the Sultanate’s table tennis body, the teams that have confirmed their participation are Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Comoros, Somalia, Mauritania, Djibouti, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine and Yemen besides hosts Oman. The championships will include singles and doubles competitions in men’s open and youth as well as women’s open and youth categories. The championships draw will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on August 14. Meanwhile, the main Organising Committee, under the chairmanship of Oman Table Tennis Committee chief Abdullah bin Mohammed Ba Mukhalif, along with the various sub committees are working round the clock to make arrangements for successful conduct of the championship.
