Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,223.04 points, up by 0.50 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.48 per cent at 493.10 points.
Construction Material, up 7.32 per cent, was the top gainer while, Al Maha Ceramics, down 3.10 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial Services were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 718 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR7.7 million, with more than 34 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded securities, 16 advanced, 11 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR114,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR70,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR44,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6753.5 points, up by 0.73 per cent. Prices of HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Dhofar, Taageer Finance, Sohar International Bank, and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 2.89 per cent, 2.66 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 1.79 per cent, and 1.33 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Oman United Insurance, National Bank Oman, Bank Muscat, and Al Batinah Development Company were down by 1.15 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0.51 per cent, 0.36 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5906.68 points, down by 0.28 per cent. Prices of Construction Materials, Oman Fisheries, Voltamp Energy, Raysut Cement, and Oman Cables Industry were up by 7.32 per cent, 2.7 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.55 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Ceramics, and Gulf Stones were down by 3.1 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 0.5 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.22 per cent before closing at 1639.63 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Muscat Gases, Oman Telecom, OIFC, and National Gas were up by 3.77 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.31 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Renaissance Services, Phoenix Power, Ooredoo, Al Batinah Hotels, and United Power - Preferential Shares were down by 3.08 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
