Oman Swimming: OSA chief Taha Al Kishry gets new FINA committee role

Muscat: The newly-elected board members of the world swimming governing body, FINA, held their first meeting, with Oman Swimming Association (OSA) chief Taha Al Kishry in attendance, in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
Taha Al Kishry, who is also the chairman of both the Arab swimming federation, was elected as the board member during the FINA board elections for 2017-21 term held on the sidelines of the ongoing World Swimming Championships in Budapest.
The first meeting of the new FINA baord was held under the chairmanship of Julio Maglione.
During the meeting, Taha Al Kashari was selected as general supervisor of the Media Committee.

Three other Omani officials were also named on three different committees.
OSA Geenral Secretary Qais Al Zakwani was made a member of the Evaluation and Follow-up Committee, international referee Abdulmoneim Khamis Al Alawi was selected as member of the Technical Committee of Open Water Swimming, and Khalid Habib Al Lawati was named on the Media Committee.

The meeting also discussed a number of recommendations and proposals, including provision of direct support to the continental swimming federations for running their activities, programme and championships and provision of support to the national swimming associations in the field of information technology and development of human resources.
The meeting also discussed the proposed action plans and development programmes, financial budget and the programmes and activities for the 2017-2021 term.
