Recovery in blue chip stock lifts Oman's share index

Muscat: Rebound in index heavyweights lifted the MSM30 Index to 5,027.35 points, a gain of 0.59 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 742.05 points, up by 0.10 per cent. Bank Sohar was the leader in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. National Bank of Oman was the top gainer on Wednesday, up by 2.40 per cent, while the top loser was Al Anwar Holding, down by 2.68 per cent.
During the session, a total of 325 trades were executed, generating turnover of OMR2.44 million with more than 11.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 22 traded securities, 7 advanced, 7 declined, and 8 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors switched to net buyers of OMR357,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 66,000 while Omani investors were net sellers of OMR423,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index ended positively at 7,546.16 points, up by 0.26 per cent. NBO, Bank Dhofar and Bank Muscat increased by 2.40 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 1.12 per cent, respectively. Al Anwar Holding, Al Madina Investments, Gulf Investment Services and Al Izz Bank declined by 2.68 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.28 per cent and 1.28 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.14 per cent to close at 6,763.67 points. Al Anwar Ceramics, up by 0.81 per cent, was the only sector gainer. Oman Fisheries and Galfar Engineering declined by 1.56 per cent and 1.35 per cent, respectively.
Services Index advanced by 0.52 per cent to close at 2,507.55 points. Sembcorp Salalah, Oman Telecommunications Company and Phoenix Power gained 2.36per cent, 1.78 per cent and 1.74 per cent, respectively. Al Jazeera Services declined by 1.33 per cent to close at OMR0.148.
