Swimming: Oman’s Taha Al Kishry elected as member of FINA board

Muscat: Adding another feather to his cap, Oman’s Taha Al Kishry has been elected as a board member of the world swimming governing body, FINA.
Taha, the chairman of Oman Swimming Association who also the chief of the Arab Swimming Federation and secretary-general of Asian Swimming Federation (AASF), was elected during the FINA General Assembly organised in Budapest, Hungary on the sidelines of the ongoing World Swimming Championships on Saturday.
Speaking about his election as FINA board member for the 2017-21 term, Taha expressed his ‘pride and delight’ over his election.
“The new post ascribes to the support of the wise government of the Sultanate extended to the youth and sports sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, Julio Maglione was re-elected as the FINA president.
