Trademark, patent, industrial design, copyright applications in Oman cross 100,000 mark

Muscat: More than 118,000 applications have so far been filed for national and international trademarks, patents, industrial designs and copyright, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Of the total 118,079 applications, 111,429 were trademark applications, 3,441 patent applications, 141 industrial designs applications and 3,068 copyright applications.
The Sultanate was ranked third in the Arab world, fourth in the MENA region and 39th in the world in 2017 in intellectual property index by the US Intellectual Property Rights Alliance with a score of 9.48 points in the Property Registration Index, 7.67 points in the Physical Property Protection Index and 19.5 points in the Property Protection index.
