Fake news: ROP denies rumours about boy stuck in Oman police station

Muscat: There is no truth to the rumour of a child staying at a police station for the last forty days, police have announced.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has refuted a rumour circulating of a boy's presence in a police station for the last 40 days. The rumoured picture included alongside the statement shows a young boy in tears.
The picture was originally posted in a Pakistani newspaper in 2016, of a seven-year-old boy who went missing in a Pakistani province and was found two years later in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
According to the Pakistani newspaper, the pictured boy was five-years-old when he went missing, as he was misplaced by his family on June 6, 2014 while they were shifting homes between two Pakistani provinces.
