Serbian delegation visits Oman's Public Establishment for Industrial Estates

Muscat: A high-profile Serbian delegation visited the headquarters of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) on Wednesday.
The delegation was headed by Prince David Andrews, Director of Strategic Client Development at Hill International.
Received by Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PEIE, the delegation was briefed about PEIE and its industrial estates, besides the incentives and facilities offered to local and foreign investors.
The officials highlighted the vision of PEIE, which is to enhance the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, and its mission in attracting industrial investments and providing continued support, through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value adding services, and easy governmental processes.
PEIE officials highlighted the objectives of PEIE, which include attracting foreign investments to the Sultanate and localising the national capital; contributing to stimulating the private sector to achieve sustainable economic and social development; strengthening relations with the concerned authorities to ensure the overflow of investment process and overcome any obstacles faced by investors; reinforcing cooperation with related international and regional organisations to boost the exchange of experience, knowledge and techniques used; developing employees’ skills and performance through a set of training programmes; contributing to creating new job opportunities; encouraging exports and the establishment of export industries, and increase the market share of locally manufactured products; stimulating the economic sectors in the Sultanate including transport, tourism, banking, among others; and achieving environmental sustainability.
The delegation was briefed on the vision and objectives of the KOM to enhance Oman’s position as the region’s leading centre of business excellence, innovation and entrepreneurship. They were also introduced to the services and facilities offered by the KOM for companies operating in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, and the role played by KOM to develop an ideal environment for the growth and prosperity of companies specialised in the field of ICT in the country.
The Serbian delegates also toured the National Business Centre (NBC) and was briefed on the role the centre plays in supporting Omani entrepreneurs to flourish their businesses. NBC officials explained that the centre undertakes efforts to facilitate and support the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; build entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and provide business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures. They also toured ITA’s SAS programme and were briefed on its objectives.
