Three killed in two car accidents in Oman

Muscat: Two members of the same family, from the village of northern Qaroot in Izki, were killed yesterday in a three-vehicle car crash while an Emirati national was killed on the Salalah-Thumrait road in Al Saih Al Zamayim.
The first crash was a head-on collision as a vehicle crossed the barrier and struck another head on, killing two members instantly and severely injuring a third, a Public Authority For Civil Defence and Ambulance spokesman said.
“It crossed and collided head on with another vehicle,” the spokesman said.
“There aren’t many crashes there, so the problem was with the vehicle headed to Nizwa. There was a tyre malfunction, which made it leap over the metal barrier and right into the opposite road.”
Ambulances arrived at the scene promptly, says PACDA’s report.
“The call came at 5:40 in the morning, the ambulances arrived at 5:49; they took nine minutes to arrive at the scene.
“It became clear that there were two injured at code black, meaning that they had lost their lives. One was 70 years old, the other was 19. The one in critical condition, is 25.”
At the scene were ambulances from Izki and Samail. Samail’s ambulance took the two dead. Izki’s ambulance received the person injured at code red. PACDA also aided at the scene, those trapped in cars were removed using two devices provided by PACDA.”
ROP warned drivers to exercise caution on the road.
