Oman customs will link import/export to ID, resident cards

Muscat: Identity cards and resident cards will be linked to the Bayan system for residents who want to import and export goods, customs has announced.
The Bayan system is an online single window/one-stop service from the Directorate General of Customs for seamless, convenient and fast clearance of goods in and out of Oman.
"The Directorate General of Customs intends to stop the process of accessing Bayan customer systems using user name and password and replace it by using the ID card or resident card supporting the electronic certificate service (TAM) as of July 31, 2017.
"Please activate 'Tam' service on your identity card at one of the civil status centres in different governorates of the Sultanate so that you can carry out import and export operations and obtain necessary permits," a statement from Customs department of Royal Oman Police said.
