News Rewind: Ramadan announced in Oman

There was plenty happening in the Sultanate this past week. Here's our weekly News Rewind to tell you what made headlines over the last seven days:
Ramadan was officially announced, beginning from Saturday, 27th May. The Main Committee of New Moon Sighting at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs released a statement that they had received reports of the moon being sighted in a number of governorates in Oman on Friday evening.
The Ministry of Oil and Gas also announced fresh fuel prices for the month of June. Prices fell this month, with M91 and M95 petrol are now 180 and 191 baisas per litre, while diesel now stands at 197 baisas per litre.
Legal experts in the Sultanate have called for courteous behaviour from non-Muslims, with regards to fasting hours during the Holy Month of Ramadan. One lawyer said that even though it's not a crime for non-Muslims to break Ramadan rules, it could be considered a "social and moral offence".
Temperatures soared in Oman this past week, with the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre telling citizens to be wary of the heat, that would be generated thanks to westerly winds from the deserts of Saudi Arabia. In Oman, summer normally starts in mid-April and continues until October.
It was also revealed that a law exists in India, wherein foreigners aren't allowed to carry back any Indian Rupees to their home countries while leaving India.
According to embassy officials, in case these travellers have Indian currency notes in their possession before boarding the flight, Indian customs officials can act against these foreigners at the airports.
