Oman shares decline on listless trading

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse edged down on listless trading. The MSM 30 Index was relatively stable and closed at 5,385.21 points, down 0.03 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.21 per cent to end at 791.35 points. Al Madina Investment was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Al Izz Bank was the top gainer, up 2.50 per cent, while Al Anwar Holding was Monday’s top loser, down 0.98 per cent.
A total number of 543 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR2.93 million with 19.26 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded securities, 5 advanced, 8 declined, and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab Investors switched to net buyers for OMR296,000 while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR206,000 followed by Foreign Investors for OMR90,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,975.99 points, up 0.07 per cent. Al Izz Bank, Takaful Oman, Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investments and Oman Orix Leasing gained 2.50 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.37 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investments and Oman United Insurance declined 0.98 per cent, 0.88 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended the session at 7,285.55 points, down 0.08 per cent. Oman Fisheries and Al Maha Ceramics decreased 0.68 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Services Index had marginal loss of 0.02 per cent to close at 2,763.70 points. Port Services, Ooredoo and Omantel lost 0.44 per cent, 0.40 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively.
