Oman share index falls near 14-month low

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index fell by 0.31 per cent to close at 5386.64 points; it’s lowest in fourteen months. The MSM Sharia Index was down by 0.22 per cent to end at 789.68 points. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel led in terms of turnover. The top gainer was National Finance, up 1.40 per cent, while Oman National Engineering & Investment was the top loser, down 3.70 per cent. A total number of 321 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR1.34 million with 6.013 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 4 advanced, 18 declined, and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors switched to net buyers for OMR151,000 while GCC & Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR115,000 followed by Foreign Investors for OMR36,000 worth of shares. Financial Index was down by 0.40 per cent to close at 7970.67 points. National Finance, Bank Nizwa,Oman & Emirates and Oman Orix Leasing gained by 1.40 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.89 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Al Sharqiya Investment, Oman United Insurance and Bank Sohar declined by 2.67 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 2.23 per cent and 1.38 per cent respectively. Industrial Index closed at 7,291.37 points, down 0.34 per cent. Construction Material Industries, Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramic and Oman Flour Mills fell by 3.33 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.40 per cent and 0.43 per cent respectively. Services Index fell by 0.29 per cent to finish at 2,764.21 points. Oman National Engineering & Investment, Al Maha Petroleum, Oreedoo Oman and Omantel declined by 3.70 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 0.40 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively.
