Al Baraka Oilfield Services enhances in-country value

Muscat: Al Baraka Oilfield Services has one of the most impressive in-country value (ICV) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) portfolios in the Sultanate.
The firm is one of Oman’s leading Super Local Community Contractors (SLCC) for the south of the Sultanate offering innovative and reliable oil field services.
The company's annual in-country procurement stands at OMR4.3 million and has awarded sub-contracts worth OMR1.5 million per annum to many of the 147 registered LCCs so far.
On the CSR front, Al Baraka allocates tens of thousands of Omani riyals per annum for various CSR activities. To promote education, the company has instituted the School Excellence award in coordination with the Ministry of Education for the best schools in the Wilayat of Shaleem and Juzur Al Halaniyat. Further, the company has sponsored 10 Sultan Qaboos University students for the Injaz Oman competition, and has also sponsored many projects of this nature.
Beyond this, Al Baraka has been strongly pushing for maximum Omanisation and skill development of locals. It has so far trained 62 Omani nationals across business sectors, and the company’s Omanisation level stands at 66 per cent, with 272 of the 413 employees being Omanis.
According to Musallam Al Maashani, chief executive officer of Al Baraka, the company, “aims to become a renowned player in the oil and gas industry that offers professional, innovative and quality services at competitive prices while focusing on the welfare of our staff, the satisfaction of our clients and shareholders, and development of our society.”
Established in 2011, Al Baraka commenced operations in 2013. Its core business consists of well engineering and Off-Plot Delivery Contract (ODC) services in the Bahja and Rima regions. The company also undertakes civil location construction, surface engineering, pipeline integrity services and manpower supply. It has already completed 621 wells on the Hoist workover services thus far, as well as commissioned many ODC wells and not to mention the hundreds of kilometres of flow lines being welded.
The company earned international recognition when a comprehensive two-year worker welfare survey conducted by the U.K.-based IDG rated Al Baraka above industrial standard in terms of employee welfare.
Al Baraka has solid plans for the future, which include innovative portable nitrogen solutions, and pipeline and integrity solutions. It is also working on smart applications for the sector.
The company is also looking at the mining and logistics sectors, with plans for investments in mining and the development of a logistics and warehouse hub in Shaleem. Tourism and fisheries, and renewable energy are also on the list of its future projects.
