State Council approves proposal on policies promoting health

Muscat: A study of the Social Committee on Developing Policies Promoting Health and titled "Non-Communicable Diseases", was approved by the State Council on Tuesday.
The study was approved after taking consideration of comments of the honourable members, as well as forming a committee to draft their comments to be included in the same study.
The Council also approved a report of the Joint Committee between the State Council and Majlis A'Shura on the draft cultural heritage law, as well as a draft law on organisation and protection of aflaj sites listed at the World Heritage List.
The Committee also recommended activating the initiative on schools enhancing health and nutrition friendly so as to be circulated to cover all higher education institutions with emphasis on awareness programmes about risks of non-communicable diseases and integrate them within educational programmes at such institutions.
The Committee highlighted the importance of preparing qualified human specialized resources in fields related to promoting health and supporting relevant studies and research, as well as increasing financial resources allocated for prevention of non-communicable diseases through innovative mechanisms in funding relevant programmes.
