Mantheri receives Moroccan parliamentary delegation

Muscat: Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council on Tuesday received a delegation of the Moroccan side in the Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Moroccan Consultants Council, led by La'arabi Al Mahrshi, within the framework of the delegation's official visit to the Sultanate.
Dr. Al Mantheri said the delegation's visit reflects the historic ties between the Sultanate and Morocco as the leadership in both countries are keen to promote such relations. He also stressed the importance of expanding areas of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides reviewed aspects of cooperation in several fields particularly parliamentary fields, in addition to affirming the role of mutual visits in enhancing the relations between the two countries.
On his turn, La'arabi Al Mahrshi, Head of the Moroccan Parliamentary delegation expressed his aspiration towards further progress, prosperity and growth in relations of the two countries in a manner that realises their interests in all fields.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Qadir bin Salim Al Dhahab, Head of the Omani side in the Omani-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Committee, members of the Committee and the Charge d'affaires of the Moroccan Embassy to the Sultanate.
Meanwhile, the Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Moroccan Consultants Council held a session of talks. The Omani side was headed by honourable Abdul Qadir bin Salim Al Dhahab while the Moroccan side was chaired by La'arabi Al Mahrshi.
The two sides discussed means of promoting the parliamentary relations in areas of legislations and laws, exchanging periodicals, research, training and rehabilitation, in addition to reviewing aspects of scientific, economic and investment cooperation and air transport cooperation.
The session also stressed the importance of activating memoranda of cooperation signed between the two sides, as well as coordinating stances of both councils in international parliamentary fora.
