Football: Verbeek calls up 26 players ahead of Oman’s match against Palestine

Muscat: Coach Pim Verbeek has called up 26 players for training ahead of Oman’s Asian Cup qualifying match against Palestine.
According to information received from the Oman Football Association (OFA) on Tuesday, the Sultanate’s squad will be undergoing two training camps before they travel to West Bank to take on Palestine in their second Group D match of the final qualifying round for the 2019 Asian Cup.
The players called up by Dutch coach Verbeek are Ali Al Habsi, Faiz Al Rushaidi, Abdulaziz Al Muqbali, Mohammed Al Mashari, Saad bin Suhail Al Mukhaini, Basil bin Abdullah Al Rawahi, Abdulsalam bin Amor Al Mukhaini, Nadhir Awadh Bashir, Ali bin Sulaiman Al Busaidi, Raed bin Ibrahim Al Mukhaini, Qasim Said Hardan, Riyadh Subait, Abdullah Fawaz, Jameel Al Yahmadi, Ibrahim Al Mukhaini, Khalid Salah, Sami Khamis, Saud Al Farsi, Yasin Al Shiyadi, Mohammed Al Musallami, Omar bin Talib Al Fazari, Mahmood bin Mabrouk Al Mushaifri, Mohsin Al Khalidi, Ahmed Mubarak ‘Kanu’, Khalid Al Hajri and Mohammed bin Faraj Al Rawahi.
Oman, who began their campaign in the final qualifying round with a 14-0 rout of Bhutan at home on March 28, are scheduled to face Palestine on June 13.
Verbeek’s Oman will undergo the first of two camps in Muscat from May 27 to June 2, during which they will play a friendly match against visiting Syrian team on May 29.
On June 3, they will travel to Jordan for another training camp before leaving for Palestine.
Oman will host Maldives on September 5 and will play the same opponents in an away match on October 10. They will travel to Bhutan on November 14 before completing their group engagements with a home match against Palestine on March 27, 2018.
The top two teams from each of the six groups will qualify for the 2019 Asian Cup to be organised in the UAE.
